What a city. What a walk to this city! 28km! Oh my feet!

But what a welcome! We chose a hostel attached to a church and as we arrived they asked had we had lunch so sat us down to lunch with a few other pilgrims, a priest and other hosteleros. Soup and bread, and Iberican sausage and wine. And then sherry to finish but then pistachio butter was served and a different sherry had to come out!

Diego, Gerry, Antonio and Benjamin what hosts!

We explored a bit on our wounded feet – a richly beautiful city.

Later our hosts treated us to dinner started by an ancient pilgrim song:

“Further on, Further on, Further up, God help us!”

It was in a rather dated Latin/Spanish dialect but that’s the gist. Or maybe they meant-

“Come on! Come on! Get on up! To God’s glory!”

Then a feast and then prayers in all our languages in the chapel. Benjamin then blessed us with a deeper spiritual journey with our outer walk.
