10 October 2018 – Sorry this has lain in drafts for far too long… While walking the Camino I kept seeing Black Wheatears, a pretty, small bird with generally black plumage, Prominent white backside, Size: 16-18 cm
You can see them here – https://www.beautyofbirds.com/blackwheatears.html

I was unable to photograph them with much success so no photo, sorry. But imagine a smaller, finer version of a male blackbird.
It is a passerine – a song bird that is from the flycatcher grouping. I was surprised to learn that their name isn’t anything to do with what they eat but is a folk etymology from Middle English whit-ers “white arse”.
I see them as I walk by fields, in bushes, and under trees where it was searching for it’s insect food.
